We are inviting abstract submissions for the upcoming 15th Australia and New Zealand Conference on Geomechanics in Christchurch, New Zealand. Submissions can be made via the Abstract Submission Portal below.
All abstracts must follow the instructions and be submitted online by the end of February 2027.
Presentation Types
Abstracts can be submitted for the presentation types below. The Author is requested to select their preferred presentation type on the form.
Oral Presentation – All oral presentations will be grouped into sessions throughout the program. Further details about oral presentations will be sent to presenting authors after abstract review.
Rapid Fire Presentation – All rapid fire presentations will be grouped into sessions throughout the program. Further details about oral presentations will be sent to presenting authors after abstract review.
Posters – Poster presentations will be on display during the Conference. Poster presenters will have the opportunity to present their poster and answer questions from delegates during the Conference.
All Abstracts will be reviewed and assigned, based on scoring, to an Oral or Rapid Fire Presentation Session or to be presented as a poster.

Guidelines for Abstract Submissions
- Abstracts must be submitted online following the portal link above and completing the online form.
- Abstracts must be maximum 300-words.
- All abstract presenters must submit a brief bio (max 50 words).
- Abstract submissions will be reviewed and scored independently by two reviewers.
- Each accepted abstract must then be followed by the submission of a full paper, guidelines for the paper and paper template will be available soon.
- Final acceptance of your abstract/full paper will be dependent upon peer review. Please ensure that your submission meets all the requirements before submitting and that all co-authors have reviewed and approved the abstract/paper.
- After review and acceptance of the papers, the first Author of each paper will be asked to sign a “Consent to Publish” which will allow its inclusion in the Proceedings.
- Confirmation of any client approval will be required.
- Accepted oral presentations will be included within the concurrent sessions, and these sessions will be related to one or two of the conference Themes. Posters will be on display throughout the conference.
Use of AI
It is permitted to use AI tools and technologies to enhance the language and grammar of papers for this conference. This includes, but is not limited to, AI-powered proofreading and editing tools to improve the quality of written content. Authors must disclose their use of AI in preparing their papers during the submission process. Any unethical use of AI, such as plagiarizing content or misrepresenting AI-generated contributions as original work, is strictly prohibited.
Plagiarism is not acceptable. Your abstract/paper will be selected and put through plagiarism detection software, and if this shows significant levels of similarity with any unattributed sources then you will be contacted by the committee and asked to provide an explanation. Your Reviewers will be provided with a copy of the plagiarism report and your response. Your Reviewers may use this information in the assessment of your abstract/paper.
Terms and Conditions
By submitting an abstract, organisers acknowledge and agree to the following:
- All authors have approved the submission.
- Presenters will be available to present if selected and will register for the Conference.
- All presenters must be fully registered by the deadline sent in the notification email.
- Submissions must be received by February 2027.
- Submissions will only be accepted through the official portal.
- Titles must be concise, descriptive, and free of abbreviations.
- Submissions must be written in English and thoroughly proofread.
- Standard abbreviations must be spelled out at first use. Symbols may be used where appropriate.
